Section 3: Project Work Plan

NTPEP tests products according to a Project Work Plan, which describes the laboratory and/or field test protocols used to conduct the evaluation. The Project Work Plan is a consensus-based document, and includes peer review and input from industry experts. Each Project Work Plan is adopted after receiving at least two-thirds affirmative support from 52 AASHTO member states. The Project Work Plan is the basis for host states to conduct their testing and evaluation. When implemented by state DOTs, their own state standard specifications may supersede the NTPEP Project Work Plan. Industry is advised to be aware of state-level requirements, which may supersede basic NTPEP testing.

Section 4: Submit a Product (2010 Test Cycle)

Step 1: Register for DataMine 2.0

Welcome to NTPEP DataMine 2.0 featuring ePEF – http://data.ntpep.org/! To begin using NTPEP ePEF to submit your products for evaluation by NTPEP, please register with the NTPEP web site. The details of registration steps are as follows:

First off, one question needs to be answered:

Do you have an AASHTO login account (i.e. AASHTO Bookstore account or AASHTO eAffiliate account)?

If the answer is “NO” follow these steps:

    1. Select the Register button to register. Selecting Register will redirect you to the registration web site where you will be asked for your E-Mail Address then click next. A page will appear and prompt you to enter your contact information. Your registration will be completed once you provide all required information and select the OK button. After this you will be redirected back to the NTPEP DataMine 2.0 web site where you will be able to login. To login, click on the Login tab on the left side of the web page.

If the answer is “Yes” follow the step below:

    1. Please use your e-mail address and password to login to the NTPEP DataMine 2.0 web site. Note: If you have misplaced your password, you may use the "Get Password" feature on the login page to receive your password via e-mail.

From this point on, the process is the same in ePEF

    1. Upon first login you will be asked if you are a Manufacturer or Testing Facility. Select Manufacturer option to proceed to the next page where you will need to provide the manufacturer details. If your Manufacturer name already exists in the list, select it to populate the manufacturer address information.

Note: If your Manufacturer name does not exist, please provide the manufacturer name and address information.

    2. You will also need to choose Technical Committees for which you plan to submit products for evaluations. Note: you can change as needed at later time by selecting Preferences option.
    3. You will now be ready to submit your products evaluation form using the electronic Product Evaluation Form (ePEF).

Step 2: Upon completion of Step 1, How to submit products for Evaluation with ePEF

To submit a PEF, log in and then select the “Submit Evaluation/Audit Application” button from you’re My DataMine page. Selecting this button will take you to the first of the five-step application. On each step, providing the required information and selecting the Next button will take you to the next step. The details of each step are as follows:

    1. In Step #1 you will be asked to select the Technical Committee for which the evaluation is required to be submitted.
    2. Selecting the Next button on Step #1 will take you to Step #2 where you will need to provide the Manufacturer Information. Some of the field will be pre-populated with relevant information that you provided while registering with NTPEP DataMine 2.0. You can always provide new information or change the existing one.
    3. Selecting the Next button on Step #2 will take you to Step #3. On this step you will be asked about your item (System/Product/Facility) details. Your own contact details will be pre-populated with the information you provided at the time of registration. If required, you can modify your postal address and phone/fax/mobile numbers as well.
    4. Selecting the Next button will take you to Step #4 where you need to enter in the product specific information and upload any pertinent documents.
    5. Selecting the Next button will take you to the last step, Step #5. In this step you have the three options:
      a. Add Another Product (click the Add Another Product button) to go back to Step #3 to add another item.
      b. You can edit and/or delete the existing items.
  • Note: This is where and when you specify the order in which you would prefer them to be tested in the case of some TC that require this.
      c. Select the Next button to begin the completion of your submission.

    6. The final step in the process is agreeing to the NTPEP Product Evaluation Terms and Conditions (formerly the General Notes page). You need to agree to these in order to submit the evaluation application. Selecting the “I agree to the terms and conditions for submitting products for evaluation.” checkbox will activate the Submit button.
    7. Selecting the Submit button will submit your ePEF to AASHTO for review and further processing.

Once the PEF is submitted, AASHTO will then review it. AASHTO reserves the right to accept or reject any product evaluation request. AASHTO may request more information from you before making the final decision. If your application is accepted, you will be required to pay a fee to get your items tested in field and/or laboratories.

Note: At any step you can select the Save and Close button to save the information provided till that point, to get back to it later. Till the application is not Submitted, you can make changes to the information at any step. However, once you Submit the PEF (by selecting the Submit button on Step #5 of the application), you will no longer be able to make changes to it.

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to e-mail and AASHTO staff person NTPEP Staff for assistance.
